BRING THE THUNDER
A Red Riot is an event that is put on by the Presidential Ambassadors at Southern Utah University. It allows high school students who are considering SUU to come visit campus and spend the night with a current college student. The max capacity at these events are 250 high school students (along with the 50 ambassadors). My team and I had the opportunity to plan and execute a Red Riot in the month of November in the year 2015.

Nailed it.
The hard thing with an event like this is that nothing goes right. You can plan for months and months and still have things go wrong. All in all though we had a very successful program. We hit our max capacity of 250 students (with an additional waiting list of 50). Most everyone had a good time and there was a wide variety of activities for everyone to participate in. And honestly the best thing about being the team lead on this was seeing how much everyone on my team grew in leadership and management roles.

Hitting Max Capacity
My goal for our team and our event was to hit max capacity. A great event can turn into a bad one real fast if no one shows up. We tried several different methods in order to hit our 250 person limit. One of these was reaching out to each individual football and volleyball coach in the state and informing them of the opportunity to help get their players to come attend college. We also had all 50 ambassadors share our flyer on their social medias which helped a ton.

November 20th-21st
The theme of our Red Riot was game night. We started with Minute to Win it and then proceeded to Amazing Race. Next we had a three game rotation which included: Singing Bee, Family Fued, and Card Games (was supposed to be Fear Factor but we had some difficulties with Chartwells). Afterwards we moved the activities to the PE Building where we had Olympics set up. The next morning we finished with some Mythbusters and the closing ceremonies was Jimmy Fallon.
